'And in many respects, the Locks is no longer the place to be because so many people head up to the Northern Quarter. 'I think we've always been up against it to an extent,' says Marc. In the case of the Locks, Fat Cat Café is that exception, as Marc Lowden and the gang fight the tide of funky house week in week out with a selection of guests and residents who make the bar stick out nicely from the crowd. But like any part of town, scratch the surface and you'll find something a little other than that first impression.
WITH the risk of getting a deluge of complaints from irate bar owners, if you want to find cool musical sounds, Deansgate Locks isn't going to be your first point of call.
